Effective Date: October 19, 2026. At NeuroRead Pro, we believe your personal library, private documents, highlighted insights, and synthesized audio stream belong strictly to you.
1. Summary at a Glance (TL;DR)
Unlike web-based text-to-speech services (such as Speechify, NaturalReader, or cloud browser extensions) that upload your books and documents to remote server clusters for processing, NeuroRead Pro is an air-gapped, offline desktop application:
- Zero Document Uploads: Your PDFs, EPUBs, and book texts never leave your local machine.
- On-Device Neural Synthesis: Speech synthesis runs on your local GPU/CPU hardware via WebAssembly. No audio is ever generated or recorded in the cloud.
- No Usage Tracking or Ad Analytics: We do not log what books you read, how many minutes you study, your eye fixations, or your personal notes.
- 100% Data Ownership: All notes and highlight taxonomies reside in an accessible local SQLite database file on your hard drive.
2. 100% On-Device Processing Architecture
When you open, import, or read documents in NeuroRead Pro:
Handled in a secure, local desktop sandbox using native vector routines. Document text is extracted into memory only while actively viewed.
Powered by on-device neural voice weights (WASM & Apple Silicon Neural Engine / DirectX). Synthesizes speech with zero network packets sent.
Because execution is completely local, you can disconnect your computer from Wi-Fi or place it in Airplane Mode and enjoy full functionality with zero degradation.
3. What We Do NOT Collect (Zero Telemetry)
NeuroRead Pro was intentionally engineered without tracking backdoors or diagnostic uploaders. We explicitly do NOT collect, view, or store:
- Document Content: Text, titles, authors, annotations, or file hashes of any imported PDF or EPUB.
- Audio Waveforms: Synthesized speech audio is streamed to your local sound card and discarded from RAM when complete.
- Biometric or Ocular Telemetry: Eye tracking coordinates, fixation speeds, or reading behavior data.
- Personal Notes & Quizzes: Your 4-color highlights, quiz scores, and Obsidian exports remain on your filesystem only.
4. License Activation & Payment Data
When you purchase a Lifetime Scholar or Annual license:
Payment Processing: Transactions are processed securely by PCI-DSS Level 1 certified merchant processors (Stripe or LemonSqueezy). NeuroRead Pro never sees, stores, or transmits your credit card numbers or billing details.
License Validation: When activating your license on a new computer, the app contacts our licensing server via HTTPS solely to verify your cryptographic license key and assign an anonymous machine token (e.g. "Device 1 of 3"). No computer hardware identifiers, IP logs, or personal documents are linked.
5. Local Storage & Database Location
Your reading preferences, streak counters, and library metadata are saved strictly inside your operating system's standard user application directory:
You have complete, unrestricted access to inspect, copy, backup, or delete this folder at any time. Deleting this directory permanently wipes all application data from your machine.
6. GDPR, CCPA & Data Ownership Rights
Under the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Right to Portability: Export all highlights, notes, and reading sessions into plain Markdown or JSON at any time.
- Right to Erasure: Click "Reset Local Database" in the desktop app Settings to immediately purge all local records. Because we hold zero cloud data, no "deletion requests" to remote servers are required.
- No Sale of Personal Data: We do not sell, rent, or trade user data or usage behavior to data brokers or advertising networks. Ever.
7. Air-Gapped & Enterprise Security
NeuroRead Pro is utilized by researchers, legal professionals, medical practitioners, and defense analysts who read sensitive, privileged, or proprietary materials under strict NDAs.
The application binary can be deployed within air-gapped laboratory environments with outbound network connections disabled at the firewall level without interrupting document reading, annotation, or neural audio synthesis.
8. Policy Updates & Contact
We may periodically update this Privacy Policy to reflect desktop software releases or new offline model capabilities. Significant changes will be announced in release notes on our download page.
